SUE WOOKEY

The Listening Hare

The Owl Knows

Sacred Landscapes 1 and 5

Galley Hill from the East

Sue Wookey's paintings reflect a lifelong love of nature, ancient symbols and myths, and Britain’s mysterious megalithic history. Another constant source of inspiration are the ancient Ways and Hills of the Chilterns where she lives.

Using harmonious shapes and patterns, Sue combines the transparency and fluidity of watercolour with the vibrancy of gouache to create paintings full of multi-layered meanings and colour. Many paintings are surrounded by words, often the fragments of poems inspired by the paintings themselves.

Each painting reflects a personal inner journey and a hope that others will gain their own inspiration from them.
